Who is the Public Protector and what is his/her role in society?

The office of the Public Protector is the mouthpiece to which members of the community may speak to power or... against the abuse thereof by those elected to positions of power. The office is tasked with receiving complaints from members of the community in relations to actions or omissions of those exercising power. The Public Protector’s responsibility includes investigating such actions and providing the findings, views, and recommendations.
