Neumann van Rooyen has a rich history that extends over several decades. The firm's origins date back to 1951 with the establishment of the firm Sylvia Oversby, which later became known as Daly & Neumann.

On 1st July 1996, Daly & Neumann merged with Oosthuizen, Mostert & Van Rooyen who were founded as far back as the early 1960s. The new practice became known as Neumann van Rooyen.

On 1st August 2003, Neumann van Rooyen merged with Sesele Attorneys with the intention of upholding affirmative strategies and diversity.  During 2008 the firm joined hands with the Phatshoane Henney Group and this has taken the firm to the next level in building the future for its staff and clients in the Goldfields.
