Lockdown has had everyone down, however there is a little sunshine as Level 4 permits you to move but you only have time until 7 June 2020.
Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, have made the decision to allow South Africans and their household furniture and effects to move around South Africa on a once- off basis and this includes moving over province lines.
The Minister and the Minister of Police and Transport , have issued directions relating to the Movement of persons and goods in the Goernment Gazette, with publishing date , 7 May 2020 and No 43293 of Volume 659.
The Purpose of the Directions is to facilitate the movement of persons and their goods within and across Provincial, Metropolitan or district boundaries during the period of Alert 4.
This Once-off movement will also only apply to certain people. If you entered into a new lease agreement before or during the Lockdown period and where the the transfer of immovable property occurred before Lockdown, and it requires a change of place of residence, including the transport of goods to a new place of residence in the Republic.
The above mentioned circumstances requires a once-off move of the persons who are relocating to their new place of residence as permitted in terms of Regulation 16(5) as well as the transport of goods within the Republic is permitted in terms of regulations 22(1)(f)
Any one who needs to travel to his or her new place of residence and to transport goods which are limited to household furniture and effects is permitted to do so between the period 7 May 2020 until 7 June 2020. Those who need to move due to a new lease or registration of the immovable property is required to obtain a permit to travel across provincial metropolitan or district boundaries from the Station Commander of police station or a person designated by him or her. The Permit must correspond with Form 1.
the Permit should include the particulars of the persons who are part of the household who will be required to move;
have in his or her the relevant lease agreement indicating the date of expiry of the lease and the date of commencement of the new lease , or the transfer documents attesting to the change in place of residence or change of ownership of property.
These directions are called the Directions on the once-off movement persons and the Transportation of goods for purpose of relocation and commence on 7 May 2020.
