What a time to be Alive....
05 May 2020

I hear so many people using this phrase " what a time to be alive" and it truly is an amazing time to be alive. Everyone's life has been flipped up side down with the pandemic, our normal has become abnormal.
Seeing everyone walking around with a mask is absolutely mind blowing because I never imagined a life such as this. As much as I think that this pandemic is scary, it has changed our lives in a magnificent way. It has forced us to slow down and actually break away from the "rat race" and spend more time valuing the things most important, like our health and family.
Finding out that we needed to start work sparked up an excitement, but at the same time I was terrified, because no one knew what to expect, However my employer has really gone above and beyond to ensure that everything was in place and all the regulations have been adhered to.
I was shocked when I heard that some employers haven't taken the necessary steps to make sure that their employees are protected. They haven't provided their employees with the necessary sanitization kits, and this have forced so many people to go out and spend their own money to make sure that they are protected as they work with the public, and still have to protect the health of their loved ones.
An employer is responsible to ensure safe and healthy working condition as specially in this pandemic.
The Occupational Safety and Health has given steps to be followed by every employer to ensure safe and healthy working conditions. Employers have to firstly emphasize basic infection prevention measures. The Employer should encourage regular hand washing, allowing employees to stay at home if they are sick, encourage respiratory etiquette, adapt to social distancing measures, discourage workers from using each others phones, desks and stationary and maintaining regular housekeeping practices.
We want to encourage you that if your employer is not taking steps to make sure that you are working in a safe and healthy environment please make contact with the relevant Departments to ensure that employers are following the steps.
I trust that we will all make it through this time. Stay safe and stay Healthy.
