High heels and cherry red lips

12 August 2020,  Gerda Janse van Rensburg 695

Paint your lips cherry red and put on those high heels and let us celebrate!

In a time of Covid and horrific news headlines, what on earth can we celebrate?  No, I did not have an extra kick added to my coffee this morning.

Today, I want to celebrate the amazing thing that happens when women support each other and the great heights they reach -  together.

You see, women understand a simple principle in life.  That it takes a village to raise a child.  A principle also true when building a business and making a home. Women instinctively get that we are stronger together than apart.  There is an African proverb that goes:  “If you want to go fast: Go alone.  If you want to go far:  Go together.” Obviously if this is added to the natural instincts that most women have the magic kicks in.

I want to salute the women who stand up, even when not called upon and are brave enough to make changes where needed. The women who knows that small contributions make a huge difference for someone out there.

As Mother Teresa once said:  If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one

The women who do not keep count of the good they do. Those women who are the change they want to see in the world.

The  pastor who started a safe house for babies who were left abandoned next to the road and has kept up the good work for 15 years.

The prosecutor who gets up each day to fight on behalf abused kids

My team who comes in each morning ready to serve our community and share in people’s excitement, but also their challenges. You are amazing!

So, what is needed to become one of these game changing women?

  • Have confidence - But not too much
  • Be dedicated and productive
  • Be humble
  • Have a positive and optimistic outlook on life
  • Be a go-getter
  • Be a “fear tackler”
  • ALWAYS be Caring
  • Stand up for what you believe in
  • Be proud of who you are and have become
  • Be true to yourself
  • And maybe most important:Build the people around you to be stronger that you were.Lay foundations in other lives and celebrate them when they succeed.

As we continue to celebrate women’s month and the amazing gender that we are a part of, I want to challenge you to be the game changers in your community - all of this, while showing off those red lips and high heels.
