I have a 10 year old who is at that stage that he wants to know everything about anything.  Thank goodness for Google and YouTube!

 So while being forced to watch a life hacks clip for the 70th time I thought ... "I wish there was a legal life hack clip for our clients." Things to know and avoid and how-to-tips. So, in the next few months I'll be creating my top legal life hacks that I wish all my clients knew.

#1 -  Never but NEVER sign something you don't understand and did not read.

Ask, ask and ask again. You are paying for the contract and should understand what you are getting yourself into.   90%  of legal battles  start with someone signing something that they thought meant something else.

# 2 Work only with qualified professionals.  Whether that is your estate agent or local builder. Ask for references and qualifications.   Make sure they are qualified and have the experience you need.

#3  Just like having your family medical doctor make sure you have a family lawyer/firm that will lead you through those tough spots and that are available when you need them.  Someone who knows you and your circumstances and will keep that in mind while finding the right solution for you.

# 4 In the good old days we did some great business on a handshake.  Unfortunately, this is not the smart way to get things done. Draft that contract... Pay the  agent /lawyer the few hundred bucks.. but get it done professionally.

# 5  You can NOT go through life without a last will or testament.  The heart ache you leave behind is unthinkable and your own doing. Make sure that in the most unsure time that your family will ever experience, everyone knows what you wanted.
