professional appointments can be made within the Group and

respect of black candidate attorney appointments at the firm as
a percentage of overall candidate attorney appointments made

providers must be outsourced to black law firms (at least 25%

            7. A firm must have a functioning pro bono programme that at a
minimum meets the requirements of the relevant Law Society
               requirements for pro bono work.

The Group BEE standards represent the minimum requirements which
each member firm must meet. Firms are encouraged to exceed
these minimum standards and proactively plan for higher levels
of compliance, particularly in the light of the increasing pressures
described earlier in this report on law firms to achieve higher BEE
levels. Further aspects being considered for inclusion on the review of
these standards relate to the Group value of caring, which demands
an increasing focus also on corporate social responsibility and
            environmental accountability.
