Smile and wave, boys….

Maybe you also remember the movie and the little penguins pretending that nothing is wrong and keeping up the façade.

Last Saturday morning I drove past a school in town, busy with a Rugby match.  They boys were busy and working hard.    Beautiful to see that the kids are outside again after the past year that they had.

Later the afternoon,  turned to social media and was bombarded with many school photos of events and smiles all round.

Could not help but smile with the children and teachers who must feel that there is a little bit of normality in these events and grab it with both hands.

Reading through the latest Covid regulations it is almost laughable at what is acceptable and what not.  So we can put 30 boys on a rugby field, scrum, sweat and bleed on each other, but remember Monday morning in school, please remain 6 feet apart.  Lets send kids on National tournaments (which is now acceptable) but on Monday…6 feet please!

In the past year I really had a lot of compassion for the legislatures who had to come up with these regulations at the drop of a hat.  It could not have been easy.  However, we have been in this for a year now.  We are used to masks, sanitizer and never being quite sure what the person next to you said behind the mask.  But somewhere, somehow sanity should start to prevail when these regulations are written.

Take a side, any side.  Just take one!  Either we can have contact or we cant, but the double standards on when it is allowed and when not is driving us all nuts.

Want to know why people have started to break all the rules?  READ the regulations.

Do I believe in breaking rules and laws?  Never, but the absurdity of some of the rules is just something to smile at.

So today, I choose to be a penguin waving at the world... Smile and wave boys, smile and wave.
